winter

Home Up

deep restless strangeness, another uncontrollable river

an abandoned woman staggers singing, another year gone by

alone together lovers flying crying dying

looking for each other learning while they try

darkened tenements up above, the sound of children sleeping

a woman gazes in a mirror and dreams of yesterday

a homeless man is sleeping, curled up in a doorway

his chrome cart shimmers sadly in the crystal winter moonlight

street light shadows dance to the sound of snowflakes floating

snowflakes floating falling, then silently disappearing

their whispering frozen nameless glory finding no tomorrow

just one more fleeting guest of this january night

faraway

two lovers on the beach

watch sailboats on the horizon
